Blokes On Soaps

Because blokes like soaps too!

Dear oh dear. EastEnders is fast going down the drain as far as the kind of talent us blokes care about following the appointment of Bryan Kirkwood as the shows new Execuive Producer.

Hopes were high following his arrival following the amount of totty he packed into Hollyoaks when he fulfilled a similar role at the Cheshire-based soap during his three year stint there between 2006 and 2009. But, if the early signs are anything to go by, he is going to leave viewers of going’s-on in Walford seriously dissapointed.

The biggest loss is obviously Stacey Slater. Not only is actress Lacey Turner scorching hot, but she is actually bloody good at her role. Thankfully, these talents shouldn’t go unnoticed and, like another member of the Slater clan in Zoe, she should follow Michelle Ryan into new roles that mean us chaps can still admire her charms.

Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner)

Lucy Beale actress Melissa Suffield has been sacked following what the producers called “inappropiate behaviour”. She has become a lot more involved with the soap in recent months which has been good news for us blokes. And we better make the most of it, as Melissa will soon be dissapearing. Thankfully, the character of Lucy Beale will be going nowhere, which means a new actress will be coming in to take over the part – and, hopefully it will be a right fittie.

We will also be saying goodbye to Zsa-Zsa Carter, with Emer Kenny deciding to step down from her role to concentrate on university (we do not know what one, but whichever one it is would definitely be under consideration for the Blokes on Soaps team to attend). She will be continuing to write episodes for the spin-off E20 when it returns, so hopefully the chance to admire those fine legs will come up again in the future.

Chelsea Fox is going to be bidding goodbye along with less-attractive sister Libby. Belinda Owusu actually scrubs up pretty well when she is not under the constraints of her brain-box character, but it is the loss of Tiana Benjamin that is going to hit male fans harder. Hopefully she gets the explosive exit she deserves, and with one of Blokes on Soaps favourite blokes in Lucas Johnson set to become even more of a mentalist in the coming weeks, that could well be the case.

Lauren Branning is also leaving, which is a crying shame given the potential she had to blossom into a beautiful young lady. The question now is, with so many tidy pieces leaving the soap, who is going to replace them as the eye candy? Hopefully Mr Kirkwood can live up to his considerable reputation and bring in the sort of quality he became reknowned for on Hollyoaks. If not, then EastEnders is going to become a much poorer viewing experience for us red-blooded male viewers.
